BC Spirit Square at Harbour Park

"B.C. Spirit Squares are gathering places for our communities, created to help celebrate BC150 – the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia – as well as many other festivities and milestones in the future.” This project is being funded by the Ministry of Community Development’s B.C. Spirit Square Program.

The Mission Spirit Square Site is located on the Mission Dyke, south of Harbour Avenue and west of Horne Street. The Spirit Square is adjacent to the Harbour Commission Office. It will tie into a waterfront promenade, link to the downtown, provide spaces for gatherings, events, viewing, seating, and interpretation. It may expand over time, responding to redevelopment of the waterfront area as it occurs.

Construction of the Spirit Square in now underway with an expected opening date of May 2010.
