Waterfront Planning
The District of Mission Council is extremely excited to begin the planning and development process for Mission’s Waterfront.
To initiate the planning process, the District retained Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd. to study the potential constraints and opportunities within Mission’s waterfront area. The benefit of identifying potential technical constraints, as outlined in the Constraints to Waterfront and Brownfield Redevelopment Study, prior to land use planning is that guidelines on how site constraints should be mitigated can be incorporated into the planning process. Identifying the potential of the waterfront area ensures the successful implementation of the land use plan.
Overview
The Official Community Plan provides general direction that highlights the importance of planning the waterfront and downtown. While the District has considered redevelopment of the waterfront since 1992, it was in 2006 when the Mission Landing Waterfront Workshop Summary was developed by Council. The concept plan helps visualize the potential of development that is possible in the waterfront area.
Council invites you to share your thoughts, ideas and expectations about the waterfront for the area, please email planning@mission.ca or call 604-820-3748. |
