Widening of Lougheed Hwy in Silverdale

Work began February 21, 2005.  This project is under the authority of the Ministry of Transportation and Highways.

Cedar Valley Connector Project and Hwys 7/11 Intersection Upgrade Project

The District of Mission wishes to advise the public that construction of the above works has begun and the following roads will be affected over the course of construction, namely:

6th Ave. from Briskham St. to Cedar St.Cedar St. from 6th Ave. to 7th Ave.Highway 7/11 IntersectionCedar Valley ConnectorFraser Crescent (near Cedar Valley Connector)Lee St./7th Ave.14th Ave/Cedar St.

A cul-de-sac is proposed on Fraser Crescent with only pedestrian access to the Cedar Valley Connector.  The public are advised that as of July 5, 2005 they are unable to access Fraser Crescent from the Cedar Valley Connector and that the bus route along this section has been changed accordingly.

Traffic will be accommodated throughout construction and the public will be advised in advance of any, if required, temporary road closures.  Completion of all work is scheduled for February 28, 2006.

Work in progress include:

  • construction of retaining wall along 6th Avenue;
  • excavation for the start of a retaining wall near Fraser Crescent, adjacent to housing complex;
  • cut and fill of earth to bring the Connector to its designed subgrade elevation, i.e. 500 mm below final road elevation;
  • site clearing at 14th Avenue/Cedar Street for environmental works;
  • excavation of Windebank creek from closed culvert to open channel near 7th Avenue/Lee Street.

There is a temporary road closure in effect at 6th Avenue (West of Cedar Street) with controlled access to 6th Avenue via Briskham Street only.

By the end of the project access to Cedar Street from 6th Avenue will be discontinued and 6th Avenue will end in a cul-de-sac at Cedar Street..

PLEASE STAY OUT OF CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND OBEY ALL CONSTRUCTION SIGNAGE IN THE AREA

The Cedar Valley Connector Project is partly funded by the Canada/British Columbia Infrastructure Program.  The Highway 7/11 Intersection Upgrade is funded by BC Ministry of Transportation.
