Environmental Services


The mandate of Environmental Services is to provide leadership that fosters community wide stewardship of the natural environment.

Programs delivered by Environmental Services include:

  • Solid waste management, including landfill operation and curbside collection of recyclables, compostables and garbage
  • Liquid waste management including stormwater and sanitary discharges
  • Stream protection in urban development
  • Promotion of environmental awareness
  • Administration of soil and gravel deposit and removal
  • Protection of local food security and the agriculture land reserve
  • Bear awareness
  • Invasive plant management
  • Biodiversity protection and species at risk management
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promotion of energy efficiency
  • Flood protection
  • Environmental monitoring
