Fire Ban Information

Burning within the District of Mission is regulated by the Mission Fire/Rescue Service through its Burning Bylaw.

General Information
The Mission Fire/Rescue Service has the authority to place a Ban on all Burning within the boundaries of the District of Mission.  This may take place during the months of June, July, August and September whenever hot, dry weather conditions exist.

In the event the District of Mission activates a Burning Ban, notices will be placed in the local newspaper or on this web site.

A Provincial Burning Ban may be issued by the Ministry of Forests and will apply within BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas.  The Provincial fire ban does not apply within municipalities or regional districts that have their own burning bylaws; however the District of Mission may place its own burning ban at the same time as the Provincial fire ban.
