*NEW* Celebrate NATIONAL FOREST WEEK !
National Forest Week is September 19 to 25. It is a time to celebrate Canada’s forests and to remember all the great things forests do for us (clean air, building products, places to camp and hike, jobs and much more!). The Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) is holding an art contest for young people.  The Truck Loggers Association and the ABCFP are pleased to offer the art contest to children between the ages of 4 and 12. Draw a picture of what the forest means to you using the form in the link provided. There will be a winner in each age group (4-5, 6-8, 9-12) who will receive a $50 Chapters gift card.  Click here to find out more details!

High school and post-secondary student interested in forestry can sign up for a free START subscription. START subscribers receive the ABCFP’s member magazine, BC Forest Professional, as well as the e-newsletter and discounts to ABCFP training events such as the annual conference.

July:  In accordance with the Tree Farm Licence Management Plan Regulation, the DOM has now prepared its 9th Management Plan since TFL 26 began 52 years ago.   MP 9 for TFL 26 June 24 2010

The new MP Regulation has fewer content requirements compared to older versions, to avoid redundancy. The main content of a new MP relates to timber supply and Allowable Annual Cut (AAC) calculations.  TFL 26 had a new AAC approved by the Ministry of Forests and Range (MFR) in March 2010. Mission’s new MP9 does include this new AAC information as well as a few other required facts and statistics about TFL 26.  There are no new management decisions, obligations or commitments in the new MP.

*Note: Public review period ended on August 23, 2010.
