The District of Mission Parks, Recreation & Culture Department have been working hard behind the scenes to create a Super Family Day experience for Mission residents this year on Monday, Feb.15.

A combination of in-person and virtual opportunities have been designed to ensure a variety of fun and safe family-based activities are available, most of which are free of charge, thanks to financial support from the Province of British Columbia.

“Families have carried additional burdens this past year,” commented Acting Mayor Danny Plecas.  “The District of Mission welcomes the opportunity to offer our residents some well-needed downtime where families can try something new and create some great memories.”

Working with the Mission Folk Music Festival, the Department is offering a free online Rhythm and Moves Virtual Folk Concert and Zoom-based instrument-making workshop both featuring Boris Sichon.

In-person activities include pre-registered swim and gym sessions, available for booking now, at the regular admission rates. Those wanting to be active at home, can try a free virtual Bolly X family fitness class.

There will also be free Super Hero themed scavenger hunts at Centennial Park and Fraser River Heritage Park, running from Friday 12th to Monday 15th Feb., where signs will be placed around these locations, and households can use their cell phones to access clues and enter to win prizes.
