In early June 2022, the City of Mission hosted its first Builders’ Forum to bring the local building and development community together for an evening of presentations by Building Division staff and small table discussions.

Before the event began, the City released a survey on Engage Mission inviting local builders to get involved with the design of the session to ensure participants got the most value from the event.

As result of this feedback, the facilitated forum focused on the following areas:

  • City process improvement updates
  • Permit wait times and inspections overview
  • BC Energy Step Code introduction
  • Common permit omissions
  • Small table discussions

The overall goal of the forum was to bring builders together with City of Mission staff to ask questions, make connections, and discuss ways to improve the building experience for everyone.

Our report includes a summary of what we heard from the building community, answers to the most common questions that were asked, and next steps from the City.
