What happened

On June 24th, 2022 City staff released a Request for Proposal for the Construction of the Gaudin Creek Community Detention Pond. The project was to complete the construction of a new community detention facility and associated creek channel, downstream of the existing detention facility.

On August 15th council approved a budget increase and awarded the contract to MAREX Constructors Ltd. The Notice to Proceed has been issued, the contractor has submitted their documents and the Contract has been executed. After a pre-construction meeting in August, MAREX mobilized on to the site in September.

A Letter to Residents [PDF/452KB]  and a Wildlife Attractants Letter [PDF/391KB] was sent to residents on June 23, 2023.

The completed work included

  • Roadway excavation
  • Drainage improvements
  • New community drainage detention facility
  • Pedestrian trail and fencing
  • Environmental enhancements

The Contractor utilized two site access points, Hutton Place cul-de-sac, as well as Nottman Street at Dalke Avenue. Project signs were posted at each entrance. Additional traffic control aided with material deliveries and a staging/laydown area. A Notice to Residents letter was distributed to the adjacent and directly impacted residents.
