Tree cutting is not allowed in the Municipal Forest. It is an offence and subject to prosecution and penalty.
The District of Mission spends considerable dollars investing in cone and seed collection, seedling growing services, tree planting and stand tending-vegetation management to ensure we have healthy and diverse forests for future generations.
What you think is a ‘free’ tree actually takes a significant cost to produce. Cutting trees from the Tree Farm reduces the health of our tree stands and impacts future revenues for the Municipality through the Mission Forestry Enterprise.
Unauthorized cutting of trees from Crown land is an offence under Section 52 of the Forest and Range Practices Act and is subject to prosecution and penalty.
We ask that you support the many local growers who grow trees for this purpose, and you will end up with a nicer fuller tree.
