Committees, Commissions, and Boards
The committee system is a highly effective tool for Council in sharing responsibility, tapping into the community’s expertise, and obtaining firsthand input from citizens.
Committees, Commissions and Task Forces provide Council with optimized consultation from the community when making decisions.
Board of Variance
This board considers minor variances to certain development-related bylaws where compliance with these bylaws would cause undue hardship.
Cultural Resources Commission
This committee provides recommendations to Council that will shape the infrastructure and support base for regional cultural activities, services and organizations.
Economic Development Select Committee (EDSC)
This committee provides recommendations to Council on economic development priorities, policies, procedures, and matters that will foster and enhance business and economic growth within the City of Mission.
Joint Shared Services Committee
This committee is comprised of elected officials from both the City of Mission and the City of Abbotsford, and acts on behalf of Mission and Abbotsford to accomplish shared joint services goals.
This commission advises Council on progress toward implementation of the Heritage Strategic Plan; promotes awareness of the importance of heritage; and provides the expertise of a culturally diverse group of people to connect the individuals, groups and heritage initiatives in Mission.
Mission Community Wellness Committee
This committee acts as an advisory body to Council and to the Chief Administrative Officer regarding matters pertaining to social planning, community well-being, and quality of life indicators for all members of the community.
Mission Sustainable Housing Committee (MSHC)
This committee provides information and recommendations to Council concerning the ongoing challenges of affordable and sustainable housing impacting a broad array of Mission citizens and to identify potential solutions for increasing the supply of affordable and accessible housing and shelter in the City of Mission.
This committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on concerns and requests as it relates to traffic safety, active transportation, accessible transportation and transit issues specific to Mission.
This committee provides the expertise of a diverse group of people to make recommendations that will shape the infrastructure and support base for the City of Mission’s parks, trails, recreational activities, services and organizations.
Tourism Committee (Sub-Committee of the EDSC)
This committee provides recommendations to the Economic Development Select Committee on policies, procedures and strategic direction for the purposes of marketing and promoting the City of Mission’s tourism assets.
