14th Avenue Improvement Project

What’s happening

The City is moving ahead with a 4-year improvement program for 14th Avenue, and successfully completed the replacement of about 1 km of older, undersized watermain on 14th Avenue east of Caribou Street in 2021.

In 2022, the road will be upgraded between Hurd Street and Tanager Street. The upgrades include a paved multi-use path on the south side of the road, a concrete sidewalk on the north side, concrete curbs and gutters, and street lights. On-street parking will generally be permitted, except near Caribou Street where a left-turn lane will be added.

Below is an artist rendering of what the completed road will look like:

The City will be hiring a contractor for the road construction, and request-for-proposals for the construction work have been posted on BC Bid. The goal is to start work later this spring, and complete 4 months later.
