14th Avenue Watermain Replacement

What’s happening

A recently approved road improvement project for 14th Avenue will be phased over a 4-year period. Prior to making the road improvements, the City is replacing about 1 km of older, undersized watermain on 14th Avenue east of Caribou Street.

Section 1: between Hurd Street and Tanager Street
Status: Complete

Section 2: between Tanager Street and Cedar Street
Status: In progress

The watermain replacement has been completed at Caribou Street to Tanager street and is progressing east to just west of Cedar Street. It will take 4 to 5 months to complete.

What to expect

During this section of construction 14th Avenue will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of local traffic and buses, from Cedar Street to Tanager Street every Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Detour routes are in effect so please plan accordingly and watch for pedestrians and respect speed limits in the detour neighborhoods. The watermain construction will require short periods of no-water as service connections are transferred to the new main. Every effort will be made to keep the inconvenience to the residents to a minimum. Your patience and understanding while these works complete is very much appreciated.
