Updated May 25, 2023 – Contractor is demobilized for Winter, work will resume in Summer 2023. MAREX and City Staff will be monitoring site conditions throughout the Spring, should any issues or concerns arise please reach out to one of the Project Contracts.
What’s Happening
On June 24th City staff released a Request for Proposal for the Construction of the Gaudin Creek Community Detention Pond. The project was to complete the construction of a new community detention facility and associated creek channel, downstream of the existing detention facility.
On August 15th council approved a budget increase and awarded the contract to MAREX Constructors Ltd. The Notice to Proceed has been issued, the contractor has submitted their documents and the Contract has been executed. After a pre-construction meeting in August, MAREX mobilized on to the site in September.

Construction is expected to be completed over a 3-month period.

The Proposed Work Includes:
- Roadway excavation
- Drainage improvements
- New community drainage detention facility
- Pedestrian trail and fencing
- Environmental enhancements
What To Expect
The Contractor will be utilizing two site access points, Hutton Place cul-de-sac, as well as Nottman Street at Dalke Avenue. Project signs will be posted at each entrance. Additional traffic control will be in place for material deliveries and a staging/laydown area. A Notice to Residents letter was distributed to the adjacent and directly impacted residents. Watch for pedestrians and respect speed limits in the detour neighborhoods. Every effort will be made to keep the inconvenience to the residents to a minimum. Your patience and understanding while these works are completed are very much appreciated.
