Paid-on-Call Firefighters

Mission Fire Rescue Service recruits Paid-on-Call Firefighters annually for its Recruit Training Program which generally commences in November. Applications are accepted year-round. If you are a motivated, physically fit individual with a desire to serve your community please consider applying for the 2023 intake.

Emergency Support Services Volunteers

ESS volunteers are a dedicated group of people who prepare for and respond to provide short-term disaster relief in the event of fires, floods, earthquakes, or other emergencies.

Emergency Support Services Volunteer Application

Our Volunteers:

Are at least 18 years of age

• Train to be ready to assist the community in the event of an emergency event

• Attend monthly meetings

 • Commit to “on call” day/night shifts each month

 • Volunteer at community events

 • Have opportunities to deploy to assist in other parts of the province during a disaster

 • Make a difference in our community!

Spring Break Youth Fire Academy

Students selected for the Spring Break Youth Fire Academy will have the opportunity to participate in basic firefighting techniques, auto extrication, certification in CPR, fire extinguisher use, and live fire and physical training. Participants are selected from the secondary school program and screened by school and Fire Department personnel. We are looking for enthusiastic youth who show a willingness to learn and have fun.  If that sounds like you, we encourage you to apply through your school.

 

Junior Firefighter Program

Graduating students of the Youth Fire Academy can apply to become probationary Junior Firefighters with Mission Fire Rescue Service. Once Junior Firefighters reach the age of 18 and have successfully completed the required curriculum of NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1 and First Responder training, they will be encouraged to participate with the ongoing applications of Paid-on-Call members of the department.
