Mission, BC— The City of Mission and the International Association of Firefighters Local 4768 (IAFF) have reached a new three-year agreement that will be effective from January 1, 2024 until December 31, 2026.
The agreement, which was ratified by the IAFF on May 16, 2024 and by City of Mission Council on May 21, 2024, included modest increases to benefits and the following key components:
General wage increases of:
- 4.5% effective the first pay period for 2024
- 5% effective the first pay period for 2025
- 4.5% effective the first pay period for 2026
Cost of living adjustment: 1% as of January 1, 2023
The City and the IAFF were able to collaboratively work together to achieve an agreement that will ensure the continued delivery of services from the Mission Fire Rescue Service for our diverse and growing community.
“The Mission Professional Fire Fighters' Association, IAFF Local 4768, is proud of the collaborative approach taken with the City of Mission to renew a collective agreement that values the important work Local 4768 members do in the community,” said Dave Taylor, IAFF 4768 President. “A healthy and long career in service to residents of Mission is what this renewed agreement supports.”
“Mission is fortunate to have a team of highly dedicated and innovative firefighters,” said Mayor Paul Horn. “Their work has consistently become more difficult as we deal with issues such as climate change and the toxic drug supply. As we grow, we need MFRS to grow along with us, so it was essential that we achieve this agreement and maintain our constructive labour relations. I am especially happy to see that the agreement is for three years and that it includes measures to improve the welfare of our MFRS team.
