Mission, BC—A new sport will soon be played in style in Mission thanks to a collaboration between the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department and a local sports group—cricket!
Construction of a purpose-built cricket pitch is close to completion at Silverdale Park. This is the first cricket pitch of its kind in the City of Mission. Now that the pad has been poured, a strip of artificial turf will be installed after landscaping takes place. Once the pitch is complete, park users can use the space for cricket or continue using the grounds for other activities. Bookings of the park for games will continue to be made through the City of Mission.
The project came to life out of a collaboration between the Mission Hawks Cricket Club and the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department. The club paid for the construction of the pad, while the City is responsible for the landscaping.
