Mission, BC—With Victoria Day long weekend upon us, the City of Mission would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend. Here’s a round-up of reminders and announcements. 

Spray Park Re-opens for Summer

The ever-popular spray park at Mission Leisure Centre will open for the season starting Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. Grab a towel and have some fun. Spray park hours are 10 a.m - 8 p.m., 7 days a week until the September long weekend.

Spending time in your yard this weekend? Take a moment to review the handy FireSmart BC guide to reduce the potential impacts of wildfire on your home. The actions are easy to do and highly effective. Find out more.

Free Compost Giveaway

Mission residents are eligible to receive one cubic yard of compost per household for free. Open to residents within and outside the curbside collection area. Please note the landfill will be closed on May 20, but will be open regular hours on Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Find out more.

Water Restrictions

Stage 1 water restrictions started on May 1. Residential lawn watering is allowed one morning per week. Even addresses water on Saturday and odd addresses water on Sunday. Manual watering is permitted between 6-9 am and automatic watering between 5-7 am. Find out more.

Stave West Recreational Area

If you are planning a trip to the beautiful Stave West Recreation Area, please remember to leave no trace. If you pack it in, pack it out. Campfires are only allowed in approved fire rings, such as those found in provincial campsites, as per District Bylaw 2975-1996. Campfires not meeting the bylaw will be put out.

The Fire Department will be conducting regular patrols in the Stave West area, and will be extinguishing campfires not meeting the bylaw.

Civic Facility Closures 

The following civic facilities will be closed on Monday, May 20

  • City Hall
  • Welton Common
  • Visitors Information Centre
  • Landfill
  • Fire Hall 1 Office

Mission Leisure Centre will be open for modified hours, and most regular programming will be cancelled.
