Fire Protection Master Plan
Mission Fire Rescue Service presented a draft of the Fire Protection Master Plan for review and comment. This is a significant plan that is intended to identify current deficiencies, future requirements and potential opportunities related to service delivery; identify business plan elements and strategies to measure performance, and create policy statements and recommendations that guide decision making and provide a focus for operations over the next three to five years. The draft plan is available as part of the Council agenda on our website.
Emergency Management Program Bylaw
Council received an overview of the proposed new Emergency Management Program Bylaw. The bylaw satisfies the commitment of the municipality to review, update, or amend relevant bylaws as required, to meet the conditions of the Auditor General of Local Government Performance Audit’s recommendation to “improve relevant emergency management bylaws to ensure they meet organizational priorities and changing needs and include business continuity expectations.”
Community Better Challenge
Mission has received a $10,000 award from ParticipACTION for our tremendous effort during the Community Better Challenge. During the two-week competition Mission tracked over 6 million minutes of physical activity and submitted over 3,500 events and activities as part of the effort. The $10,000 will be shared through micro-grants to community groups supporting active initiatives.
Economic Development Select Committee
Two representatives were appointed to the Economic Development Select Committee. Allan Main, Executive Director with Community Futures North Fraser and Chris Hartman, VP Development with Polygon Homes, were selected to serve two-year terms on the committee.
