Conservation Plan for the Mission Museum
The Mission Museum is one of the most significant heritage buildings in Mission, and has been protected by the Heritage Designation Bylaw since 1981. A Heritage Conservation Plan was presented to Council, where the purpose of the Plan is to provide guidance for the restoration and maintenance of the interior and exterior of the building in accordance with the “Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada”.
Community Emergency Preparedness Fund Grant Application
Mission Emergency Support Services will be applying to the Union of BC Municipalities Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for $16,257.60 in funding for a 2020 Emergency Support Services project. Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is working to improve the Emergency Support Services Program (ESS) through a project aimed at modernizing ESS delivery.
Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan
Council approved funds to continue the implementation of the 2018 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, which include updates and repairs at Jack Pool Plaza/Waterfront, repairs and upgrades to Fraser River Heritage Park, tree planting initiatives at the Mission Rotary Sports Park, and the support of new and emerging sports in the community.
E-Scooter/Micromobility Pilot Project
The District will apply for a grant from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for the use of active transportation devices such as e-scooters or other forms of micromobility devices not currently authorized to be used on sidewalks. An e-scooter/micromobility pilot project will enable the province and participating communities to explore the potential of new and emerging transportation modes to move people safely and efficiently, while reducing traffic congestion.
