Paving Contract Awarded

Council has approved the award of the 2019 asphalt rehabilitation program to the lowest bidder, Key West Asphalt (333) Limited, for $1.6 million. This award is subject to the contractor fulfilling the mandatory requirements set out in the tender documents.  The total approved 2019 budget for the paving program is $3.18 million, and approximately 80% of that ($2.5 million) is set aside for the annual asphalt rehabilitation program.

Phase 3 Realignment of Gaudin Creek ‘C’

Gaudin Creek has three tributaries and drains a large area of Cedar Valley. The relocation of tributary C, referred to as Gaudin Creek ‘C’, has been planned for many years and phases 1 and 2 of the relocation were completed in 2008 and 2012. The third and final phase of the relocation will include a piped drainage system on Tunbridge Avenue and establishment of a 40-metre-wide environmentally sensitive area corridor connecting phases 1 and 2. Construction is anticipated to begin in the next several weeks, and advance notice will be delivered to the residents adjacent to the construction zone.

Multilingual Consultation and Engagement

District staff are working with Mission Community Services Society to support confidential in-person translation for the annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey. A review of options for offering multilingual consultation and engagement will be done over the coming months and recommendations for standardizing the service will follow.
