2018 Annual Report and Statement of Financial Information
Staff presented the 2018 Annual Report including audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2018. The Statement of Financial Information was also presented and approved for submission to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Basketball in Mission
Staff provided an overview of facility use and considerations regarding options for changing drop-in times and the costs of increasing access to basketball court time in Mission.
Shelter in Lightburn Park
Council approved up to $70,000 in funding to install a shelter at Lightburn Park to provide a shaded covered area.
Retail Cannabis Changes
Council considered policy and bylaw options for creating a framework for allowing legal cannabis retail in specific locations. Council deferred any decision on the matter and staff will be bringing forward additional information on assessing and prioritizing applications as well as managing where retail operations could location and the allowed density and proximity to facilities like schools.
Council approved $8,500 in funding to pursue a reclassification as a city following the Alternative Approval Process. Should the Alternative Approval Process deliver a positive result Council will then consider a community visioning and re-branding effort as part of the upcoming budget process.
