Clarke Theatre and Community Gym
The District will be providing additional financial support for the continued operation of the Clarke Foundation Theatre and Community Gymnasium. A Memorandum of Understanding will be in place until a more thorough review and development of a new joint operating agreement between Mission Public Schools and the District of Mission is completed.
Public Art Policy
Council agreed with a staff proposal to update the Public Art Policy in Mission. Some key updates to the policy include updating the guiding principles, establishing an Artist Selection or Review Panel to approve public art projects, and dividing Public Art into three distinct streams: Civic Public Art, Community Public Art, and Private Sector Public Art.
Lawn Bowling Lease
The District will renew the Mission Lawn Bowling Club’s lease agreement for 2020. The New Horizons Lawn Bowling Society is a non-profit charity who provide lawn bowling and other recreational activities for Senior Citizens within the community of Mission. Lawn bowling has a long history in the District of Mission dating back to 1936, with the New Horizon’s facility on Hurd Street operating since 1973.
Council approved the extension of the Universal Bus Pass (U-PASS) Agreement with the University of the Fraser Valley, giving students access to transit & recreation in the Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack areas.
