May 2020 has been proclaimed as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
May, 2020 and May 25, 2020 have been proclaimed as National Missing Children’s Month and National Missing Children’s Day.
May 10, 2020 has been proclaimed as Healthcare Auxiliary Day.
Heritage BC Legacy Grant
Council endorsed an application for funding from the Heritage BC Legacy Fund’s Heritage Conservation Grant Program to perform the required repairs and renovations to the Mission Museum. The Heritage Conservation Program grant is available to municipalities for the preservation, rehabilitation, and restoration of Heritage Resources in their communities.
Potential site for new Fire Station
Preliminary site assessments to determine the viability of a fourth Fire Station in Cedar Valley have been approved. Funding for the geo-technical and environmental assessments will come from the Community Amenity Reserve account, and will be done sequentially so that if one study shows the site is not viable, the other study will not be started.
Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Report
The Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce presented their Annual Report to Council. The report included growth trends, fundraising goals and objectives reached, social media follower data, a membership overview and more. The report also included strategic plan objectives for 2021, and outlined the success of the 2019 Candlelight Parade.
