2018 Financial Statements

Council received the draft 2018 Financial Statements Report outlining the financial position of the municipality. At the end of 2018, the District of Mission had net financial assets of approximately $68.2 million, and non-financial assets of approximately $473 million. The municipality also had approximately $4.44 million in external dept. The general operating fund surplus for the year was approximately $1 million, when prepared using the cash-basis of accounting. Complete financial statements and a report that included the explanations of the accrual-basis and cash-basis accounting methods were included as part of the May 6, 2019 agenda package.

Independent Auditor Report

BDO Global presented their independent auditor’s report for 2018, and has issued what is considered a “clean audit” to the District of Mission. This means that in the auditor’s independent opinion, the draft 2018 financial statements as presented within the May 6, 2019 Council agenda were presented fairly, in all material respects.
