How much do you know about the forest industry in British Columbia and just how vital it is for our provincial economy?
This infographic shows a good representation of the land base of BC, how much is forested, how much of the forested landbase is actually available to be harvested and how much harvesting occurs annually on a sustainable basis. Canada has 9% of the world’s total forest cover.
The BC forest industry directly employs 59,900 workers (2016) and generates a total of almost 141,000 jobs as a result. 25% of all BC manufacturing jobs are related to the forest industry including wood products and paper manufacturing segments.
We take part in community activities such as Canada Day at the Fraser River Heritage Park where we hold Logger’s Sports Demonstrations. These events are always fun and entertaining to watch our lumberjacks show off their chainsaw and axe skills.
