There are several options for residents who did not receive their scheduled curbside collection due to the ice storm:

For Residents that Missed Compost and Recycling Collection

Missed recycling and compost collection will occur on the next scheduled collection day.  Due to the magnitude of the ice storm event, the collection contractor is not able to collect the day after the missed day as is often the case for smaller events.

For Residents of Zone Green B that Missed Garbage Collection on December 29

The collection contractor will collect up to two bins and four bags of garbage on the next Zone Green B compost and recycling collection day on Monday, January 8.  Alternatively, residents of Zone Green B will be allowed to tip four bags of garbage for free at the landfill the week of January 1 (January 2 – January 7).  Proof of residency of the missed area is required at the landfill for free drop-off.

For Residents of Zone Yellow A that Missed Garbage Collection on January 2

The collection contractor will collect up to two bins and four bag of garbage on the next Zone Yellow A compost and recycling collection day on Tuesday, January 9.  Alternatively, residents of Zone Yellow A will be allowed to tip four bags of garbage for free at the landfill the week of January 1 (January 2 – January 7).  Proof of residency of the missed area is required at the landfill for free drop-off.

In general, if your curbside collection was missed due to bad weather, please be patient and check the District’s website (www.mission.ca//waste-management), or call the curbside collection contractor at 604-820-6487 for updates.  The curbside collection contractor also posts updates on their website at www.rempledisposal.com.  The District also posts regular updates to its Facebook account www.facebook.com/DistrictofMission/ and its Twitter account.
