Mission’s latest public art work project needs you!

Dean and Christina Lauze of D’Arts were contacted by the Mission Community Archives to come up with an art project involving the direct participation of citizens in its creation for the 2019 B.C. Culture Days provincial launch.  It got started at the event and now more people are required to finish it.

Using an iconic image of the Mission Bridge with artistic enhancements, Dean and Christina designed a pixel art mosaic approximately 4 by 5 feet comprised of 4, 125 paint chips cut into 7/8  inch squares.  Once completed, the mosaic art will be covered with a clear resin and displayed in a public space representing the first large-scale collective public art work in Mission!

From Monday, October 28 to Sunday, November 3, the Mission Library will have the unique pixel art mosaic on display staffed by a different local group every day.  NOW YOU can assist with the mosaic’s completion and contribute to Mission’s public art legacy!   Here are the dates, times and names of the groups who will be at the library to guide you on how to add paint chips to the mosaic.
