 2017 Home Owner Grants

2017 Home Owner Grants can be claimed online starting May 23, 2017.

NEW – Changes in 2017

  • Homeowners can now give permission to an “agent” to apply for their home owner grant on their behalf.  The agent’s name and phone number are required.
  • If in 2016 you provided the Collector with proof of receipt of provincial disability assistance, hardship assistance or a supplement under the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act, and you still qualify, you no longer need to provide proof to claim the additional grant.

The Home Owner Grant is a provincial government program designed to assist home owners by reducing their school taxes payable on their principle residence. For additional information on the Home Owner Grant visit the Province’s website.

2016 Retro Home Owner Grants

As of January 1, 2017, 2016 Home Owner Grants are no longer available to be claimed on-line.  You may however, be eligible for the 2016 Retro Home Owner Grant.

The last day to submit your 2016 Retro Home Owner Grant form to the Finance Department is December 31, 2017.  The Home Owner Grant Administration Branch will NOT accept 2016 Retro submissions after this date.
