Youth Week is an international celebration of youth held annually from May 1-7. It is a week of fun, interaction and celebration intending to build a strong connection between young people and their communities and to profile issues, accomplishments and diversity of youth across the province. Mayor & Council will officially proclaim Youth Week, at the May 1 Council Meeting.
Mission is celebrating Youth Week with the following events:
Admission is free unless stated otherwise and all events are geared towards youth ages 12 – 18 years.
May 1, 5pm: In partnership with the FVMBA, join us for a Trial Ride to Fraser River Heritage Park. Mountain Bike, helmet & water required. Bike must be in good working order. Riding gloves recommended. Meet in the Mission Leisure Centre parking lot. Ride is geared towards youth ages 12-18 years. Bikes can be supplies for those who do not have one, please contact Amanda 604-820-5369 or firstname.lastname@example.org
May 2, 4pm: Zombie University Demo in the Mission Youth Lounge, brought to you by the Mission Arts Council. Learn Zombie Makeup tips & tricks! Find out all about the 2017 Haunted Attraction and how you can participate. Volunteers ages 14 & up are needed for the October event.
May 3, 6:30-8pm: All youth ages 13-18 years receive toonie ($2) admission to the Mission Leisure Centre Pool during the Public Swim.
May 4, 5pm: Youth & Mission RCMP Dodge Ball Game. Come to the Mission Leisure Centre Gymnasium and try your best to dodge, dip & dive!
May 5, 6:00-10pm: Come to the Mission Youth Lounge in your favorite Pajamas and participate in the Life Skills Jeopardy Game with prizes! Finish off the night with a movie & snacks. Ages 12-18 years are welcome.
May 6, 12pm: Mission Youth Week Skate Comp, brought to you by the Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture Department in partnership with Protest Movement & Hippie Mike Industries, with music by DJ Cuz-0. Entry $5 or two canned food items. All ages welcome and helmets are recommended. Categories; Mini (10 & under), Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced & Girls. Registration begins at 11:30am, please complete the registration form and bring to the event.
