Council Meeting Highlights

Regular Council meetings, including Committee of the Whole, and Public Hearings are held on the first and third Monday of every month, commencing at 1:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Hall.

These regular meetings commence at 1:00 p.m. for the Committee of the Whole, recess in the late afternoon, then reconvene at 6:00 p.m. for regular Council proceedings including Public Hearings.

The Committee of the Whole is just a committee of the Council members that exists to discuss and debate all matters of municipal business in a less formal structure.  The Committee of the Whole does not have the authority to make decisions.  It receives and reviews information, usually in the form of a staff report, and then moves “recommendations” to Council.  When the Committee “resolves to rise and report”, they become the decision-making Council again and then decide whether or not to adopt the recommendations.

The “Highlights of the Regular Council Meeting” publication posted here is a synopsis only of these regular Council meetings.  It does not contain all items of business. Webcasts of the full meetings can be found here, and full meeting minutes and agenda packages can be found here.
