ROADS/WINTER UPDATE – Friday, December 2nd 4:00pm.

All Priority 1 and Priority 2 routes have been cleared. Public Works staff are out sanding and clearing remaining Priority 3 routes and responding to any complaints. They will continue to respond to icy areas and maintain routes in priority as light snow accumulates.

James Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenue remains closed.

Please be patient as icy and cold conditions are causing collection delays. If your material is not collected by 6pm please bring it back in and place it out for collection before 8am the next business day. Reminder: If your collection day was Wednesday your recycling will not be collected this week as it was postponed  until next Wednesday due to poor weather conditions on Nov 30th.

Freezing temperatures have caused some compost bins to become brittle and compost to freeze to the inside of bins. As a result some bins may not be fully emptied. If your compost was not collected please bring it back in and place it out before 8 am on your next regular collection day.

Thank you for your understanding and support as crews work hard to provide this important service.

How to help:

  • Clearing snow and ice from sidewalks in front of your property is the responsibility of the homeowner and business (cleared snow should be piled to the left of your driveway with the flow of traffic or on lawns)
  • Park your car in the driveway in inclement weather to provide the plows unobstructed access to clear streets
  • Remove blockages from catch basins for optimal drainage
