
Update
March 27, 2025 - The contractor has completed the new bus stop on 1st Avenue, between Welton Street and James Street.
These projects are substantially complete and in the warranty period. Deficiency work will be addressed as required.
1st Avenue Bus Stop
The City of Mission awarded a construction contract to BA Blacktop to construct a new bus stop at the above-noted location. Construction is complete and in the warranty period. The proposed work included:
- Removal of plants and landscaping.
- Concrete curb bulge extension and installation of "Belgard Old Country" pavers.
- Adjust street furniture and signage to suit.
- Asphalt patching of curb slot.
A Notice to Residents Letter was delivered by January 7th, 2025.
Crosswalks and Sidewalks
The City initiated several projects to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety on roads in Mission. Three existing crosswalks were upgraded by adding push-button activated flashing beacons at:
- Hurd Street at Hillcrest Avenue
- Hurd Street at Lamont Avenue (will include curb extensions)
- Hurd Street at McRae Avenue
A new sidewalk was constructed on Silverdale Avenue from just west of Rook Crescent to Wren Street, on the south side of the road. A Notice to Residents Letter was mailed out to residents on August 1, 2024.
