Should e-scooters be allowed in Mission?
The City of Mission is exploring whether to join B.C.’s Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Program. If approved, e-scooters would be allowed on certain public roads, offering a new way to get around.
No decision has been made. That’s why we’re asking for your input now.
Whether you have used an e-scooter or not, we want to hear from you! Your feedback will be reported back to Mission’s Mayor and Council to help decide whether Mission should join the Province’s Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Program. There are 30 pilot communities across BC where e-scooter operation has been legalized for the duration of the pilot (April 2024 to 2028). Mission is not a registered pilot community, so e-scooter operation is currently illegal in Mission.
E-scooters are battery-powered motorized devices with two to four wheels, a platform for standing and handlebars for steering. The provincial government is using the results of the pilot to determine whether e-scooters should be authorized for permanent use in the province.
The pilot rules are available on the Province’s website: Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Project Regulation.
