The Clarke Theatre Presents is our first annual City of Mission produced performing arts series. Running from September to June, this theatre season features unique artistically-driven acts – theatre, dance, music and film - that are intended to provoke thought, raise awareness and bring a unique performance arts experience to Mission and the Fraser Valley. Valdy, a celebrated Canadian : folk and country musician, has been a cherished figure in Canadian music for over 46 years. Known for his hit single, Rock and Roll Song, Valdy emerged in the 1970s and quickly became one of the country’s most influential singer-songwriters. With 14 albums and four gold records to his name, his music resonates with audiences across generations. Recognized for his captivating storytelling, Valdy’s performances are a mix of heartwarming stories and timeless music, making him a beloved figure in Canada’s folk music scene.

Dress up in your best Rocky Horrorinspired outfits and get ready to “Time Warp” to the eerie castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter along with sweethearts Brad and Janet. The night gives way to a series of elaborate dances and rock songs culminating in the unveiling of Frank-N-Furter’s latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky”. Whether this is your first or 500th viewing, we guarantee that this will be a strange and wonderful journey you won’t want to miss!

“Take this Waltz” is an operatic and contemporary dance performance, inspired by the music of the Canadian legend Leonard Cohen. In this performance Daniel Okulitch, one of Canada’s most celebrated operatic voices, is joined on stage by a classical chamber ensemble composed of Violin/ Viola, Cello, and Accordion; along with, dancer/ musician Ted Littlemore, an artist of many talents who plays the accordion while dancing. “Take this Waltz” aims to broaden the idea of how vocalism, contemporary dance, instrumentation, and the visual arts can be applied to well-established works, without diluting their unique qualities.

Combining dance and digital art, MOSAÏCO explores the multiplicity in identity construction. Performed by culturally diverse dancers that support the theme with a mixed and rhythmic gestural vocabulary. Their movements influence a highly reactive digital projection in the background: the appearance, transformation, or decomposition of a textured mosaic changes with the performers’ gestures. The performance is punctuated with poetic texts, providing the audience with insight into the profound reflection that has fueled the choreographic process.

Where Have All The Buffalo Gone? is a Métis love-story, written by of By Tai Amy Grauman, that transcends time to safeguard history. This vibrant play for young audiences blends fiddle music, jigging, and a life-like buffalo puppet. It is rooted in the Callihoo family’s stories and explores the love, the losses and the fight of Treaty 6’s Métis people and their kinship to the buffalo. Follow two star people and a buffalo as they reconnect across seven key moments in Métis history, from creation to present day.

The Arrogant Worms have spent over 30 years satirizing the world with their clever songs—played everywhere from radio to the space shuttle Endeavour. Formed in 1991, the trio (Chris Patterson, Mike McCormick, and Trevor Strong) has toured widely, released 13 albums, and even performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Their hits like The Last Saskatchewan Pirate and Happy Happy Birthday have become fan favorites, with viral success on YouTube. More than thirty years after they began, they continue to provide tuneful and silly escapism for everyone who needs it.

Alysa Pires’ wildly successful theatrical ballet, Macbeth, explores the dark side of human nature. The timeless themes of ambition, power, and corruption that characterize William Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy infuse this highstakes piece with drama and suspense. With an original score by Adam Sakiyama and visuals by Jane Everett, this gripping adaptation reimagines key characters as women and explores gender roles in a post-#MeToo world. Blending contemporary ballet and dance theatre, it’s a haunting take on Shakespeare’s classic. Don’t miss the reprise of this gripping mix of dance, music, and spectacle!

2024 JUNO-Nominated Mi’kmaq fiddler and singer Morgan Toney brings the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the old songs of the Mi’kmaq People together with brilliance and heart. First Flight, Toney’s 2023 East Coast Music Awardwinning debut album, celebrates language and heritage in Toney’s transformation of traditional songs like the Ko’jua and the Mi’kmaq Honour Song alongside highly original songcraft.
