The City of Mission is proud of achieving the Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification with WorkSafeBC. This is a voluntary employer certification program intended to motivate employers to take a proactive role in occupational health and safety. The COR program recognizes and rewards employers who go beyond the current legal requirements, implement an effective occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS), and pass a certification audit to the standards set out by the Board. Achieving this recognition has been the culmination of years of work in developing and implementing a robust safety program.
Achieving this certification will enable the City to receive a significant rebate from WorkSafe in 2026, which will be used by the City to continue investing in safety. This, in turn, leads to a safer work environment, which results in lower accidents and, therefore, a financial benefit from lower premiums.
