Residents and tourists alike are invited to visit First Avenue for a month-long outdoor light display that captures the warmth, charm, and character of downtown Mission.
The lights were first ignited during the Shine Bright Mission event last year that saw over 7,000 people attend a dazzling outdoor street party. This year, while there will not be a large-scale event, there will be plenty to see and do in downtown Mission with local businesses adding that extra sparkle with specially crafted Shine Bright offerings. Check out the list of participating businesses and find a walking tour map on the Tourism Mission website.
“It is wonderful to see the lights up again on First Avenue,” said Mayor Horn. “These lights are an invitation to visit our downtown and to enjoy our welcoming and warm community.”
The four-foot custom light displays represent different aspects of Mission including the heritage, special locations, and characteristics of what makes the community unique. The designs were created in consultation with community groups. Some of these light designs include representations of mountains, Mission Raceway Park, the railway bridge, local First Nations, and the Sikh temple.
Lights will turn on nightly starting at dusk from March 1 to March 31. Check it out throughout the month and support local Mission businesses.
