Mission, BC— In a spirited display of camaraderie, Mayors Paul Horn of Mission and Mayor Ross Siemens of Abbotsford have launched a friendly challenge to rally each of their communities in a race to increase plasma donations, supporting the important efforts of Canadian Blood Services.
Both Mayors, along with Abbotsford Councillor Dave Sidhu, met at the Plasma Donation Centre on South Fraser Way earlier this week to donate plasma. Their donations contributed to the 450 Challenge, a campaign by Canadian Blood Services to recruit 450 plasma donations every day to maintain a robust plasma supply chain, ensuring no patient in Canada goes without necessary treatment.
The Plasma Centre is comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the cause is noble.
“It was genuinely a relaxing process,” said Mayor Horn at the end of his donation. “It doesn’t hurt at all. It’s been a rewarding experience, as the people are so warm and welcoming here.”
Plasma donations are critical in the treatment of numerous health conditions, including trauma, cancer, and bleeding disorders. The increasing demand for plasma therapies calls for a collective effort from communities like Mission to ensure these life-saving treatments are available for all who need them.
The Plasma Donation Centre is located in West Oaks Mall at 32700 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford.
Let's rise to the challenge and show the strength of Mission’s community spirit! Learn more about it the cause and schedule a donation.
