Mission, BC—Culture Days is a nationwide celebration of arts, culture and creativity happening across Canada September 19th – October 12th and the City of Mission will begin the celebrations by hosting a free open house at the Clarke Theatre.
Residents are invited to come and commemorate the re-opening of the theatre and enjoy seeing the many updates, from lighting to new seats and a presentation of the season’s upcoming events. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, refreshments, live music and more.
But that’s just the beginning. “Culture Days is a great way to celebrate the Arts while embracing community”, says Mark Haney, the City’s Manager of Arts and Culture. “For the City of Mission, we wanted to use this nationwide event to acknowledge the creativity that flows from our unique culture. In addition to the Clarke Theatre open house, we have a variety of Word Art Workshops facilitated by local artists, and a Voices of the River concert that will align with Truth and Reconciliation Day.”
The Word Art Workshops are a great way to learn a new creative skill with a friend or two in an engaging environment. Lead by local artists, these fun free classes are open to all skill levels. Create unique works of poetry, mini books, floral arrangements, paintings and more. To register for a Word Art Workshop go to mission.ca/register, and see all the Culture Days events in Mission, visit the Mission Culture Days Hub 2025.
The Clarke Theatre open house will take place on September 19th, from 7 pm – 9 pm and Voices on the River Sunday September 28th from 1 pm – 4 pm at Jack Poole Harbourside Park. There will be choirs, camera obscura, crafts, river education & more!
