City of Mission extends its best wishes for a Canada Day filled with joy, laughter and unforgettable memories as we celebrate community. Join us for a Canada Day event.

This place is situated on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō people, who have occupied these lands since time immemorial. The City of Mission is located on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, Máthxwi, and Katzie traditional territories.

Here’s a summary of the important reminders and announcements to keep in mind.

Civic Facility Closures 

The following civic facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 1: 

  • City Hall
  • Welton Common
  • Youth Centre
  • Landfill
  • Fire Hall 1 Office

Mission Leisure Centre will be open for modified hours on Tuesday, July 1 listed below:

  • 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Most programs and classes do not run on statutory holidays. Please check your Xplor Recreation calendar or registration confirmation.

Curbside Collection Schedule Change Reminder

If you have questions about recycling, composting, or garbage collection, or need to know your collection day, use the Recycle Coach App for up-to-date information. 

Effective July 1, residents will notice a new truck picking up their curbside collection as Emterra Environmental becomes the City’s new contractor for curbside collection services.

Water Restrictions

Stage 1 water restrictions started in May. Residential lawn watering is allowed one morning per week. Even addresses water on Saturday and odd addresses water on Sunday. Manual watering is permitted between 6 to 9 AM and automatic watering between 5 to 7 AM. Find out more.

If you are planning a trip to the beautiful Stave West Recreation Area, please remember to leave no trace. If you pack it in, pack it out.

Recreational Fire Pit - Don’t Forget to Call

A Recreational Fire Permit allows a residential homeowner or tenant to burn clean, dry, untreated firewood in a fire pit for personal enjoyment. If you live in the City of Mission and want to enjoy a backyard fire, you need a Recreational Fire Permit. Call the toll-free vent index line at 1-844-904-0766, updated daily, to check the fire risk level before you start your fire to ensure the fire risk level is “GOOD”.
